Litigation Paralegal
CILEX Authorised Practitioner
Consumer and Small Claims Litigation - 12 Month Contract
We are working with a major global automotive manufacturer seeking a CILEX authorised litigation practitioner to join its Office of General Counsel Controversies team.
This is a rare opportunity to take ownership of a defined small claims litigation caseload within a large and well resourced in house legal function. The role offers genuine autonomy, advocacy responsibility, and direct exposure to senior stakeholders across a household name organisation.
The position is based at the organisation’s Essex headquarters, with hybrid working available.
The Role
You will manage a rolling caseload of pre action and Small Claims Court matters across England and Wales. The caseload is measured and controlled, typically around 10 active litigation matters at any one time, allowing for proper preparation and advocacy.
You will:
Take full ownership of cases from initial assessment through to final hearing and resolution
Draft statements of case, witness statements, applications and formal correspondence
Conduct legal research across CPR, consumer protection and contract law
Represent the business at Small Claims hearings
Engage directly with internal stakeholders including customer service, engineering and commercial teams
Ensure full compliance with procedural rules and internal governance standards
This is not a volume processing role. It requires judgement, independence and confident advocacy.
About You
To be considered, you must:
Hold a CILEX Litigation qualification
Hold litigation practice rights authorised by CILEX Regulation Limited
Have demonstrable experience managing and advocating small claims matters in England and Wales
Be confident operating independently with minimal supervision
Have strong working knowledge of the Civil Procedure Rules
Be comfortable engaging with internal stakeholders in a corporate environment
Experience in consumer disputes, product related claims or contract disputes will be advantageous.
Why This Role
In house litigation role within a globally recognised organisation
Clear autonomy and ownership of your caseload
Stable 12 month contract with potential for extension
Hybrid flexibility
Strategic value of authorised status within a structured legal team
Given current market conditions following the Mazur decision, authorised litigation practitioners are in high demand. This role provides the opportunity to utilise and strengthen your practice rights within a secure and reputable organisation.
If you are a CILEX authorised practitioner seeking an in house litigation position with advocacy exposure and structured support, we would be pleased to hear from you.
